8 Famous People with Psoriasis

Celebrities with psoriasis

Some 7.5 million of American citizen suffer from psoriasis, an autoimmune disorder that develops when the immune system kicks into overdrive, causing skin cells to grow too quickly. These cells accumulate on the skin, causing scaly, red patches. Psoriasis can range from relatively mild (affecting up to 2% of the body) to very severe (covering 10% to 80% or more of the body). Fortunately, medication and lifestyle can control even the most serious cases. Here are the stories of 8 celebrities with psoriasis who have survived and even triumphed.

Kim Kardashian

The reality TV star revealed she had psoriasis on a 2011 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Kardashian was 30 at the time, the same age as her mother, Kris Jenner, when she was diagnosed with the condition. Psoriasis most often appears between the ages of 15 and 35 and does have a strong genetic component. Kardashian deals with the disease much as she does the rest of her life: publicly. "I'm using Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs spray and it is my lifesaver at the moment!" she once posted on her website. "I love this stuff! It really covers up my psoriasis so well!" and she posted that she help here self always with natural treatement specialy from the famous book http://bit.ly/2HZwqWF .

CariDee English

Before becoming America's Next Top Model in 2006, CariDee English fought a long battle with psoriasis. Diagnosed at age five, she found all kinds of ways to hide the condition, which at one point covered 70% of her body. She wore long sleeves in the middle of summer, got doctor's notes to excuse her from gym and, when starting her modeling career, hid her lesions under thick makeup. Thanks to medication, English's skin is now clear, but she once did before-and-after pics of her psoriasis, hoping that people with psoriasis would "gain some motivation from this."

Art Garfunkel

The man who, with Paul Simon, brought us the 60s classics "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Feelin' Groovy" also has psoriasis. Once while on a concert tour of Israel, Garfunkel soaked in the Dead Sea hoping to find relief from his symptoms. "I've been told that if you float in that salty, buoyant water, it's very good for the skin," he said on his website. "I found it not so much therapeutic as beautiful.”

Dara Torres

Swimmer Dara Torres has won 12 medals in five different Olympic Games. She also has psoriasis. Torres has found that the chlorine in pools actually helps her condition, though others with psoriasis find pool chemicals to be irritating. Part of her mission is to make sure others with the condition aren't kept out of the pool either because they're self-conscious or because people think it's catching. "Psoriasis isn't contagious and it isn't just cosmetic," she says in a public service announcement. "It's a serious disease."

Jon Lovitz

Comedian and former Saturday Night Live-er Jon Lovitz first thought it was a rash, only to be told he actually had plaque psoriasis. The lesions eventually covered 75% of his body and he went so far as to put makeup on his elbows to hide the condition. Lovitz now has his psoriasis under control after trying—and failing—many different medications. "Don't be embarrassed," he said in an interview with the National Psoriasis Foundation. "See a dermatologist. A lot of people with psoriasis give up, but don't. Find out what works best for you .”this is the program i follow click here

LeAnn Rimes

The two-time Grammy winner was diagnosed with psoriasis when she was just two years old. By the time she was six, it covered 80% of her body. Stigmatized as "scaly girl" when she was a child and afraid to wear short dresses on the Red Carpet even as an adult, Rimes' psoriasis is now clear, thanks to medication and careful lifestyle choices such as healthy eating. Doing a magazine shoot in a bikini was "one of the highlights of my life," Rimes told Health.

Stacy London

Stacy London's psoriasis was so bad as a child that she had to trim her hair into a crew cut and wear turtlenecks and long pants in the heat of summer. She felt like a "monster," the stylist on What Not to Wear once confided. So she turned to fashion and its pretty adornments to boost her self-esteem. "I do think that there is a lot about what I've been through that has sort of merged certainly with my ambition career-wise to create a new kind of style that is based in self-esteem," she says on her site, Uncover Your Confidence.

I Got Rid Of Almost All Of My Psoriasis — Here’s How You Can, Too

1. I have psoriasis.

I have something that will never go away. IT WON’T GO AWAY!!! No matter what I do, no matter how hard I try, no matter how many creams I put on it, no matter how much weird shit I do to it, it will never go away. It might leave one part of my body, but it just goes to another part of my body, moving around, completely impossible to catch. I will basically be playing wack-a-mole for the rest of my life with my own skin.

2. What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is little red dots or slight coloration that sometimes flake that appears on your skin.
According to science psoriasis is your skin cells growing at a rapid rate, faster than the surrounding cells. It is like you are Wolverine, your skin grows back quicker than normal, but unlike Wolverine, it doesn’t return to a pristine Hugh Jackman state of perfection.
Instead it is red and sometimes even flaky.
Scientists believe, but aren’t sure, that psoriasis is caused when the immune system overreacts to something it considers toxic, which makes the skin cells grow faster.

3. I first started getting psoriasis around the age of 26.

It was when I worked at a steakhouse as a cook. I was eating a lot of beef and white bread because it was free. Somebody would mess up a steak or burger at least twice a day, and boom, I had a free meal. I ate beef and white bread almost everyday for two years. Not a good choice.
Red spots starts showing up around my eyelashes and above my lip. Then they started flaking and getting gross, then it started in my hair, little crusty bumps. I didn’t know what to do, I didn’t have health care, so I couldn’t go to the doctor. And it wasn’t that bad.
During the next summer I played a lot of basketball outside with no shirt on and it went away. Getting a tan apparently makes psoriasis disappear. But I was also thinking, oh it goes away in the summer, who cares.
I went back to college and started drinking black coffee twice a morning and feeling stressed out. I think the black coffee and stress made the psoriasis return. During that winter it got really bad. The red dots became huge and dry, it felt like my skin was made of rocks. I kept putting lotions on it recommended by some of my female friends, all of which contained alcohol and fragrance, which actually made it worse. When I would reach up to grab things, the dots would crack and bleed.
Psoriasis Free For Life
At this point, I was still putting the wrong products on. It kept getting worse and worse. Then the worst thing happened. I had to take two math classes in the summer at 8 in the morning, which lead to me drinking more black coffee and being super stressed out because I hate math. Seriously, I actually cried twice alone in my room doing those stupid math problems. The psoriasis then grew on my legs. I had a psoriasis spot as big as a baseball on my thigh. I had dots all over, on my chest, back, legs, ankles, my hair, had tons of crusties. My elbows were destroyed, everyone was commenting about it. I was a walking disaster.
I made the decision I had to fix it, it had to be done. I spent over 50 hours researching psoriasis on the Internet, I found forum after forum, comments on products, personal experiments, dietary programs, people talking about taking vacations to the Dead Sea. It saved me, to know there was a community out there, going through the same thing.
I was doing multiple regression analysis in statistics class at the time and learned, to ascertain an answer from a thousand different opinions on one thing, you have to figure out what all the opinions have in common. Basically this is what the opinions said: don’t eat and drink garbage, don’t use lotions with fragrance and alcohol, tan, and tar.
See, I was a person who loved garbage food. I was raised on garbage food. My mother is a master of garbage food. I grew up drinking three cans of soda a day, eating a bag of potato chips, drinking black coffee, eating a candy bar, ice cream, and I probably threw in some cheese somewhere. The typical American diet.
I was really scared to eat differently — like actually scared. How could I ever live without disgusting food and Pepsi on a daily basis?
Then I had to tan. I had spent my life making fun of people who tanned, and especially men who tanned. But I came to enjoy it. I find it so relaxing, I fall asleep now when I tan.
I changed: I started tanning four times a week, bought lotions without fragrance and alcohol and new shampoos. I stopped eating so much garbage. I lost 15 pounds in three months. Think about it like this: if you lose 15 pounds after you stop eating garbage, that means 15 pounds of you was garbage — like 15 pounds of your body were cells made of garbage food.
After three years of changed habits, my psoriasis has almost all disappeared, and what is left is barely visible. I still see it in the mirror almost everyday. I stare at the red colorations on my face, and just fucking hate my life. But I think most people don’t even notice it anymore, and to my surprise, no girl has ever been bothered it.
I am still very embarrassed by it. Last summer I went hiking with a girl and it was 110 degrees, and she kept telling me to take my shirt off, and because I still have some on my stomach, I wouldn’t remove my shirt when we were hiking, and I just looked stupid and weird. And when we made out, I wouldn’t let her stick her hand under my shirt. It took two months before I let her see my stomach. And she didn’t even care. So, yeah, it bothers me.

4. Here’s my diet and the list of products I use:
Psoriasis Free For Life

Nothing sold in a convenient store, all that is garbage.
No beef or cured pork.
No white bread.
Coffee that’s diluted with an inch of milk. When I’m at home, I use coconut milk.
IPAs and hard ciders are the only alcohols that don’t trigger my psoriasis. I have read online other people who say IPAs do not cause outbreaks either. If I drink a Bud or Coors or whiskey, my skin gets bad immediately.
I drink one to two cups of detox tea a day.

4. Supplements:

Vitamin B and C
Flaxseed oil
Vitamin D

5. Shampoos

NEVER let a shampoo with fragrance touch your scalp. This includes Head and Shoulders.
Buy MG217 tar shampoo. Do not buy the generics, spend the extra money.
Buy Dermarest and its generics
Alternate between those two shampoos throughout the week. My scalp is completely clear now.
If you can get avocado oil, cover your scalp with it and leave it on for an hour, then wash out. Your scalp will feel really good after that.

6. Body Lotions:

Nothing with fragrance or alcohol.
Use only Aveeno and Eucerin. Their generics are okay.
Apply Eucerin or a generic form three times a day.
Psoriasin Gel, apply on an area three times a day. But do not go into the sunlight after, or that part of your body will look like a zombie.

Licorice psoriasis treatment

Licorice is one of effective solutions for many skin diseases, including eczema, rosacea and psoriasis is no exception. This is thanks to a compound in the ingredient called glycyrrhizin, which is responsible for reducing itchiness and irritation. Into the bargain, licorice also contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that properly reduce inflammation and nourish the skin.

* Add 2 teaspoon of dried licorice root into water then boil. Let it simmer for 40 minutes then leave it cool down. Use a cloth to apply the liquid onto the affected area a few times a day to minimize the effect of psoriasis.

* Alternatively, put some licorice roots into a jar and pour in some olive oil. Cover it and heat it up for couples of hours or simple leave it for 6 weeks. Strain the mixture and use the oil to apply onto the affected areas. Let it sit for couple of hours before wash it off with clean water. Repeat the steps 2-3 times a day.

Psoriasis Clinical Presentation And Epidemiology

Erythrodermic psoriasis presents as an intense, bright-red, inflmmatory dermatitisinvolving at least 75% of the body surface area (Figure 17.1) [10]. It is rare, with an estimated prevalence of 1%–2.25% among psoriasis patients, and can occur de novo or in patients with preexisting psoriasis [11]. Patients may appear ill—with fever, chills, and malaise [11]. The course of erythrodermic psoriasis varies from acute and rapidly progressive to prolonged and chronic, which may follow a relapsing–remitting pattern.

Psoriasis is the most common cause of erythroderma and represents about 25% of cases.
Other causes of erythroderma include cutaneous lymphoma, pityriasis rubra pilaris, severe
eczema, and drug eruptions [12–14]. Ths, biopsy may be useful in distinguishing erythrodermic psoriasis from these other causes of erythroderma.

Pustular psoriasis has been historically classifid into two forms: localized and generalized.
Generalized pustular psoriasis can be further divided based on the acuity of presentation
and natural history of disease. Annular pustular psoriasis usually follows a chronic, more
benign course. In contrast, the von Zumbusch type is oftn a more severe presentation, characterized by the rapid onset of widespread sterile pustules on a background of erythema
(Figure 17.2) [15]. Like erythrodermic psoriasis, preexisting psoriasis vulgaris may or may
not be present [16]. Initially, pustules may be located at the periphery of psoriatic plaques,
where inflmmation is the most active. However, once the disease becomes generalized, it
can develop on any involved skin [17]. Conflence of these pustules may form irregular
“lakes of pus” over part or all of the body. Th patient may appear toxic, with fever, chills,
pain, and intense pruritus [18]. Other possible fidings include a geographic or fisured
tongue, scaly lips with superfiial ulcerations, and ocular involvement (e.g., conjunctivitis,
uveitis, or iritis).

Katy experience to eliminate psoriasis

Dear Psoriasis Sufferer,

My name is Katy and just like you, I've not only endured suffering from psoriasis, but the humiliation and social stigma that comes with it too.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you about PSORIASIS SYMPTOMS - the maddening itch, the silvery scales that crack and ooze and start the itching cycle all over again. Sure, you can hide it well enough in the winter - but as soon as summertime hits, you dread walking out of your house in long sleeves, because sweating just makes the itching that much worse.

Am I right?

But if you look at me now, you'd never think I was once taunted by horrible nicknames like "Leper"and "Dragon Lady"

So how did I successfully cure psoriasis when all my doctors, specialists and dermatologists told me it couldn't be done?

"You Can Get Back Your Life, Your Confidence and Your Self Esteem!"

How Positive Thinking help to heal psoriasis

Psoriasis and The Power of Positive Thinking
always think about the power of positive thinking. Negative feeling  keep people in the situation they are in. failing health and diseases happens, but the negative feeling about healing keep us from healing quickly, or at all. Daily affirmations may sound like a lot of hocus pocus, but it is amazing what can happen when we change our negative energy to  it positive thought.
نتيجة بحث الصور عن ‪be positive‬‏
Negative thinking lead to negative feeling and actions. If you are feeling down, all you want to do is stay under the covers and not deal with anyone. Telling yourself negative ideas can lead to you, and others believing those feeling. If you constantly tell people you aren't smart for that promotion, in time you and your co-workers will believe that to be the truth. However, if you tell yourself you are just as qualified as everyone else for that promotion, you and your co-workers will believe that to be the truth. A negative thought process and negative attitude will not give you the courage and strength to even try for the promotion. A positive attitude will give you the confidence to go for it, even if you don't get it and least you tried.

The road to recovery is more than just medication and doctor's visits. It is about convincing yourself that you are going to be alright. It is saying everyday that this illness or disease is not going to bring you down or stop you from reaching for the stars. You may have a disease, but it is not all you are.
Positive affirmations are a way to force a decision and commit to gaining control of your life back. Close your eyes and say “I will overcome this”. Bring up pictures in your mind of you free of your illness. Picture yourself living a healthy life and immersing yourself in healthy things. Remember that picture for when times get tough and things get hard.

Sensitivity to certain type of fruit is linked - according to Irani - the sensitivity of the "substance" specific: to suffer, for example, the sensitivity of the Latex (rubber) will suffer allergic to avocado, kiwi, banana and papaya. The suffering of the Birch (skin) suffers inevitably from cherries, peaches, pears, and vice versa.
If you disagree reasons for its appearance and symptoms from one person to another, the uniform and the common factor between the types of genetic factor and prepare each individual gene remains, in addition to the environmental factor, note that these factors play a role in promoting this sensitivity. It is noteworthy here, that the latter may appear in a small age levels, as well as in advanced stages due to factors related to the immune system of the person and the way it works, such as place of residence and more.
As for treatment, Irani explanatory that it can avoid the Oral Allergy Syndrome in the case of the fruit rind removed. As for the second type strongest, only the cure until today lies in total abstinence from eating fruit allergens, noting that studies are underway to find a vaccine for the sensitivity of fruit like pollen spring allergies or other, it is expected to appear in the next few years.

RNA therapy has shown real promise against psoriasis in its first human trial

A phase 1 trial involving a new type of RNA therapy has shown that the treatment could be used to fight psoriasis, a debilitating skin condition that affects nearly 3 percent of the world's population.
At the American Chemical Society (ACS) meeting in Philadelphia last week, researchers announced that AST-005, a type of RNA therapy, is safe to use in humans, and were optimistic about the drug’s dose-dependent response in psoriasis patients.
Psoriasis is an auto-immune disease, triggered when the body creates too much of a normally healthy protein, tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). The immune system attacks this protein, causing red, itchy, and scaly skin patches.
Right now, there is no cure, and very limited treatments, but RNA could be the key to controlling it.
In every one of your cells, RNA acts as a messenger between your DNA and protein. Although DNA stays in the nucleus at all times, RNA moves around the cell, directing the creation of various proteins.
One of the ways scientists have been able to limit protein creation - such as the overproduction of TNF- α - is by destroying RNA genes using a relatively new technique called RNA interference, or RNAi. RNAi enters the cell, destroys the regular RNA, and less protein is created.
While we’ve been able to use RNAi in animal models pretty effectively, as Robert Service explains at Science Magazine, this has been difficult to get right in humans:
"The trouble is that traditional antisense RNA drugs [synthetic RNAi] usually don’t work. To date, only two antisense RNA therapies have been approved in the United States, despite decades of effort and dozens of clinical trials.
Among other problems, most introduced RNA snippets get chopped up before they reach their target by enzymes that patrol the cell for foreign material."
But there’s renewed hope that this technique could work in humans, with the development of a new type of RNAi, called spherical nucleic acid (SNA).
Developed by researchers at US-based company, Exicure, AST-005 is a gel made up of SNAs, which has been shown in the past to lower the amount of TNF-α in animal trials. And unlike previous synthetic RNAis, the SNA’s structure is not chopped up by enzymes in the cell.
Back in April, researchers from Exicure announced treatment of its first patients for a phase 1 clinical trial for the AST-005 gel, which they hoped would lower the amount of TNF-α protein produced by the corresponding gene, and therefore limit patients’ symptoms.
"This clinical trial will enable our team to study safety and tolerability of AST-005 while demonstrating that the SNA technology can be used to treat diseases locally using a nucleic acid therapy. We are excited to bring this approach to patients in need," said David Giljohann, CEO at Exicure, when the trial was first announced.
The results are looking promising. At the ASC meeting, one of the team, Chad Mirkin, explained that AST-005 has been found to be safe in humans, and shows a dose-dependent response to TNF-α.
This means that although there is more work to do in finding the correct dose, the researchers are hoping that a treatment could be on the way for those suffering psoriasis.
The researchers didn’t go into much detail, as it is still very early days yet. The initial observations have only been discussed at the ASC meeting, there has been no paper published in a peer reviewed journal, so unfortunately we can’t explain much more about the trial, or get too excited just yet.
But if the treatment continues to show promise in this and other follow-up trials, it’s just the beginning for similar SNA therapies, with the potential for more new drugs based on this technique to target cancer-causing genes, and a number of auto-immune diseases.
Although this is just an initial observation, we’re looking forward to seeing the final results.
